[i]kasplatzavision: Introductions!

Let me introduce you my new friend, the parental annoyance meter.
0 - - - - - - X - - 10
he's here to tell you how much my parents are getting on my nerves! Yay!

Anyway, went home with the movers, and afterwards, mum saw my rashes and majorly freaked out and whisked me straight up to the doctor to have it checked out. Turns out it's hives, whic my mum is insisting were caused by stress. Because I didn't have my Medicare card on me, she footed the bill, which was nice of her. (I just owe her now :( )
At the moment, she's telling me to defer my honours, which I don't even know if I've gotten into yet, and work at a
call centre fulltime for a year. Yeah guess who's not going to be doing that? I want to work in retail- don't care where, as long as I get a decent amount of hours and it's in the city. I want a job where I can run aroundand get exercise- because the idea of me sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day and then sitting at my computer for another 8 hours does not sound like fun. I'm unhealthy enough as it is, FFS

anyway, just had a nice shower- damn I love the shower at this place- andim about to have dinner. Most of the moving has been done, just a few more things now. Trying to find avarice bigger than my parents' 2-door rav4 to ick up some stuff, hopefully I'll get somone..

[i]kasplatzavision: Incoming van!

So the movers will be here shortly, I've moved all of the furniture to the livingroom except for the fridge, my desk and my armchair. Naturally, something has prevented Rory from showing up to help like I asked h, and these guys charge by the half hour, so I'm trying to think of ways to shave some time to get it under 3 hours (which is still $270 all up)
Mum wants me to apply for a 9-5 call centre job and quit officeworks. I want to get another part time retail job- sitting at a desk for 4 hours a day made me miserable enough- I don't know if I can handle it :S

Anyway, the movers are here, and for some reason, my right ankle is killing me- I can't move my foot much and it's Hella itchy. Actually, Ive been itching a lot since Saturday night, an I don't know why. And I have these little bumps where it's itchy, too. Mu thinks they look like insect bites, but I havn't got bedbugs or anything. :S

I have to go into TAFE today to get my marks and all my work back. Not terribly enthused, as I don't want my work back AND I'm too sick to walk around much let alone go trudging around TAFE with all of my work. Plus I have to go to the first building - all the way over the other side of the campus - and pay for next semesters tuition.
Plus I've added a new symptom to my list of .. symptoms. Even talking about it normally makes me feel bleugh. For those who know me, just mentioning that would give away that it could only be one of a few things. But here's a hint - it's brown. You figure it out. (Y)

One entry: three reviews!

Movie!

So this evening I got to see a preview of Zombieland. I tried not to spoil myself much beforehand, so pretty much all I knew was that there were zombies and it was a horror-comedy. Of course, this immediately brings Shaun of the Dead to mind, so I was hoping I wouldn't compare them too much and end up being disappointed. I need not have worried. This is a genuinely funny film with plenty of blood and guts to satisfy the horror fan as well.

Woody Harrelson is absolutely fantastic in this. Seriously, about 95% of my favourite moments involved him. The rest of the cast is good as well, though, with Emma Stone getting a special mention for also being hawt. Look out for Bill Murray, as well, who pretty much steals the show. All in all, it's a really fun film. Lots of laugh-out-loud moments and lots of gore – just as it should be :)

Book!

On the train home, I finished off the latest of my 100 Books - One Hundred Years of Solitude, by Gabriel García Márquez. I hadn't really been looking forward to the two of his books that are on my list, largely because I knew he was one of the Names when it comes to Magic Realism, a literary style I've never been fond of. This book, however, was another example of just why I have my list, because I'd never have picked it up of my own accord, but I ended up loving it. I even ended up appreciating the kind of Magic Realism that he employs, amazingly enough.

It's slow moving and strongly narrative-based, but somehow it draws you in and keeps you enthralled despite this. It's the kind of book that sticks with you once it finishes and I think I'll be thinking about it for a while.

Musical!

Finally, it's rather a pity that Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Woman in White is such a travesty in terms of what it does to the plot of the original novel, because it's easily the best thing he's done in the past couple of decades.

[i]kasplatzavision: Something completely different

Ohshit Lufia 2 DS Remake!! Although it's now an action RPG as opposed to a turnbased one... And Maxim and co (I've only seen Maxim, Selan, Gadess and what I only presume is Guy so far) have been given a fair coat of Square-enix makeover paint, and the new designs confuse me- Maxim is a monster hunter and his original design has him in armour and looking in his early 20's. Now he looks 17 and is sporting a rather trendy looking leather jacket, because Id totally prefer to hunt monsters in a leather jacket as opposed to.. Yknow, actual armour. Selan is meant to be a kick-ass Mage/knight captain of the royal guard/princess' bodyguard (can't exactly remember) and in the new trailer she looks more like Tia, the stereotypical blue-haired childhoold friend. Maybe it IS Tia, I know that 'Selan' is a localized name.. Hrm. Gades looks badass, just not as metal as he used to look, and I'm going to cry if that blonde guy in the trailer IS actually Guy. He looks like shit.

Now I'm wondering what they've done to Lexis, Artea, and Dekar, probably the three most awesome characters in the game >_>

oh yeah, the trailer looks like the team (which apparently consists of many o the game's original developers) have kept the puzzles hard, just the way I like 'em :)

[i]sorayuy: The beginning of holiday festivities.

As of today, I've done all my cards. Yay for getting things done! Just have to address the ones I can't hand over personally... So, usa_ko, your address still the same as it was last year? =D

In other news - I have failed at my attempt for National Novel Writing Month this year. Just had way, way too much going on to properly sit down and attempt to do a book, sadly. So I'm just going to keep the tiny amount I have(like 2.10 pages and character notes), and try again next year. Hopefully, next year when it comes around, my month won't be so ultra-busy that I can have the focus and mental clarity needed to just crank it out.

Turning in the personal history packet for a job tomorrow morning, hoping that one turns out okay - I need the dough, and the sense of structure and purpose. Plus it's just, y'know, way past time. Crossing my fingers and sending up some major prayers...

[i]kasplatzavision: Wheee

While in the shower last night, I decided that I'm going to work on restoring my living standards- not leaving home till my room's clean, etc. Gonna stop by Greensborough plaza to pick up some stuff (like some new underwear). I can't screw around too much though, I have work at 3 and a good list of stuff to do at the apartment before the movers come tomorrow

[i]kasplatzavision: Hum

So today didn't turn out quite as expected. The van application didn't go through, the estate agent ended up not turning up, and things just kinda went down the shitter, from my perspective, anyway.

However, I went for a walk to the park and sat on the swings for like, an hour or so, and decided things aren't actually so bad after all. I'm moving home tomorrow still, I just won't be bringing furniture. I'll be taking care of that over the next week. I've made a few enquiries regarding getting a removalist, and it seems as though there are some cheap-ish places around, that won't cost me much more than the van hire would've. This way, I can have all the furniture moved out by pros. Monday, I'll look into getting the carpets done on Friday, and then I'll head in to the apartment on the weekend to give the place a really thorough scrub. I'll take the keys back on Monday (as the 6th is a Sunday) and then it'll all be over and I can focus on looking for a new job and a new place.

I did feel pretty shit for messing the entire thing up and relying on too many 'maybes'. But considering this is the first time I've had to move place without parental help (and transport), I see it more as a learning experience.

Tomorrow morning, I take a fine-tooth comb to my kitchenware. I'm not keeping terribly much- as mum put it, a full dinnerware set can cost about $20 and it'll be all nice and new and matching. I'm also dumping the microwave, as there's enough AIDS in there to kill off half the country. I'll take my bed apart tomorrow as well- mum wants me to dump the mattress but I want to keep it until I've got a new bed- even if I have to lug it to the new place, only to replace it a month later, it's better than having no bed at all.

Phew. Going to bed now, anyway. Got a lotta shit to do tomorrow and I don't feel so crash hot. I had a few glasses of champagne before so.. yeah. XD

Looking to NORMAL SPEED INTERNET tomorrow. Maybe I'll duck out Dick Smith and get a wireless adaptor for my PC, ahahaha. I wonder if I could hook up my 360 to my computer internet.. hm.

I have to go to a work function with James tonight. I really can't be bothered - not that I don't want to, but I am really sick. I'm dealing with really bad period pain, what I can only assume is a cold that I got from walking home in the rain at four in the morning, and knee pain - as usual - which I can again assume is worse from a looooonng walk home.
Plus it's raining and I just really cannot be bothered being social tonight. I might get mum to pick me up early if I feel too sick. But he wont even talk to me on the phone because he's too busy at work and I have NO idea what kind of dress code it is. :S
Anyway, I should go and have a shower because I am icky. I will update on last nights antics sometime tomorrow.

[i]kasplatzavision: Move-Out Maddness!

Seriously, can't believe that today is effectively my last full day at Glen st. Like, seriously, this is blowing my mind. I've loved and hated it here for almost 3 years now. This isn't me complaining, btw. it's more like a 'wow' thing. I've still got so damn much to do around the place, as well. Dad's just come and taken the last car-full of random stuff (like my printers my speakers, and one of my monitors *cry*). The Real Estate Agent is bringing in prospective new Tenants through the place today, too, so in addition to packing, I need to do things like Vacuum and dust and stuff. Ugh. Then I've got Sergej and Rosie (Rory's sister-in-law) staying the night, and we've got like, nothing to entertain them with, ahahaa. I'm going to set up my xBox in the livingroom and have media server running so we can watch like, Judge Dredd or something *lol*
ANYWAY, MASTER LIST OF THINGS I HAVE TO DO TODAY:

Clean Windows
Start going through/Packing Kitchenware
Pack Toiletries*
Throw away old bathroom shit*
Clean Kitchen Benches*
Clean Microwave
Take out -all- the garbage*
Dust the entire place*
Vacuum the entire place*
Defrost and Clean out the Fridge + Freezer
Clean out Pantry
Throw away old boxes
Sort out all random bits of paperwork
Print out Thrifty Reservation
Pack away stuff that dad is taking
Make sure I have Spanners for taking apart the bed
Make sure every remaining object in the place is either thrown out, or packed away

the stuff with the * is the stuff I need to get done by 1:00pm. Eek!

AS YOU CAN SEE I HAVE A LOT TO DO Although this list'll get updated as I do shit =3

[i]mistralfire: Failing the confidence test

a wonderful test of confidence: the Christmas party

i know that my one-on-one interactions are mostly with some semblance of confidence. but a group, and a group that i don't.. well i get along with them but i do feel kind of lonerish, definitely compared to the social butterflies in the group, i don't know how i'm going to handle this. my one solid rock, the interactions i have with a known quantity, is socialising in a totally different group, having had that social interaction that me at my work lacks

i can't even rely on my photography since i've left the K7 at home as i feel i'll be too drunk to use it properly, and i'm not risking that, or the camera, here.

this could be interesting.. my dislike of drunks, and i feel i shall be one later one.. further more, should i just drown my sorrows knowing i won't be employed in 3 months, enjoy the festivities being the straightshooter i am, or chill in my own world listening to the grooves.

so wish me luck.. cause i don't know what the next few hours will deliver.. either a soul shattering drunk, or a happy one... something in me reckons the earlier....

[i]mistralfire: the problems with stuff in "Melbourne"

Some people mean Taylors lakes, some people mean Lilydale, some people mean rowville, some people mean Richmond. or some actually mean Inner City Melbourne.

To the old woman who argued for about 5 minutes: Yes, Rowville counts as Melbourne. all because you're too senile to remember 3 letters ("Sir" as that would get her the Stamford Plaza hotel rather than the Stamford Inn)

Ya know, this job would be awesome if we were mindreaders....

[i]kasplatzavision: Surviving

Ladies and gentlemen, out of the 150+ games that occupy my humble apartment, these are the ones left:

I didn't pack DDS2 because I wanted to finish it before I moved. Now I have. Magnacarta is actually Serge's game that I've borrowed for ages. I played it last night for the first time and decided that I can't stand the battle system. I'm giving it back to him on Saturday, ahahaa. I bought Gungrave Overdose and Guitar Hero after packing up all my PS2 games (both were stupid cheap). I won't have my PS2 set up at home, so these won't get played at all.

I just got my copy of F-Zero GX back off Tora, and I came rainbows after playing it again. Probably one of my favorite Gamecube games by far. I got REMake and Pokemon Collessuem from the new place that opened up on Glenferrie Rd. I couldn't help myself but get them- he didn't have many Gamecube games and I can't resist- Gamecube's become the new Dreamcast: rarer games like Phantasy Star Online are ridiculously exensive/hard to find on eBay. It's annoying, there's a lot of good GC Games I wanna pick up now. MY copy of REMake is actually packed away- The copy sitting on my shelf is for Serge. The copy of Skies of Arcadia isn't mine, either. It belongs to Tim from MoC, but he's letting me play it <3. I'll get stuck into it while I'm at home.

I figure that I'll FINALLY get around to finishing Mariokart Wii and Zack and Wiki, too, and I bought NSMBWii after I packed away my Wii games so yeah, that's staying out as well, ahaha.

My current game is Assassin's Creed, so naturally, I'm leaving that out (also going to get the sequel for myself for christmas). I reckon my brother and his girlfriend will get a kick out of DJ Hero, and I still have some achievements to clean up on it, too. And I never actually got around to finishing JSRF, so I'm going to do that, too. :D

I sorta UNEARTHED Monkey Island 3- I bought it ages ago but Windows XP Didn't like it. I'll try it again on Windows 7 to see if I have better luck. LocoRoco and Monster Hunter are going to be the PSP games I play, and I'm going to finish Sonic Rush Adventure and Another Code as well.

Aaaaand that copy of Planscape: Torment is Serge's- I've wanted to play it for ages so he lent it to me. I'm still yet to install it ^^;

So yeah. That should keep me occupied at my parents' house, as I won't need to do as much housework and I won't be going out as much (Busses = can't be bothered). I probably won't have my computer speakers out, either, so I'll just use my headphones. Myes.

You know how sometimes people on your friendslist post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when were they working THERE? Since when were they dating HIM/HER? Since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you should already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.

Please copy the topics below, erase my answers and put yours in their place, and then post it in your journal! Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration. One-Word-Answers seldom help anyone out. (:

1. First Name
Sandra. I was apparently *this* closed to being called Susan instead. I don't know why my name was changed last-minute, but I'm glad it did

2. Age
24 23. Fuck I feel so old. (CLEARLY I feel older than I ACTUALLY AM )

3. Location
A little suburb called Hawthorn, just out of Melbourne, Australia. I'm going to be moving to my parents' house in Eltham North, where I was born and raised.

4. Occupation
Retail slave at Officeworks. Currently looking for another job to do on top of that, as I'm only a casual at Officeworks and they're giving me shit all hours at the moment.

5. Partner
This is one people probably won't know XD
Yes, I have a partner, his name is Sergej, and we've been going out for the past, what? 5 months now? He's as much of a geek as me (if not more), and we have the same retarded sense of humor. Usually we just go and hang out in the city and even though we do the exact same things at the exact same places, I never fail to have assloads of fun with him.

6. Kids
Kids used to freak me out, but I've decided that I'm not going to think about kids untill I actually need to think about kids.

7. Siblings
My stinky brother, Graeme. He's not that stinky anymore, we get a long a lot better than we used to. He's 6 years older than me, has multiple cars, a motorbike, and a house. Despite all this, he still lives at home (He's gradually moving to his new place, though) He's been everything from a baker to a courier to a sprinker-fitter, can't seem to pass up a good bargain, is pretty vain about himself, and still can't swallow a tablet. He's a special boy, though my parents are probably more proud of him than they are of me at the moment, hurr.

8. Pets
I have... my bonsai? does that count? I havn't even planted it yet though. It's a bottlebrush one I bought from Australian Geographic. I've always had a fascination with bonsai. My parents have the most adorable dog in the world, Scruffy, who's a maltese x miniture Schnautzer. Over the years, I've had 2 dogs, a budgie, and god only knows how many goldfish, but one of them had a hitler moustache. I shit you not.

9. List the 3-5 biggest things going on in your life.
Uhh..
1- Moving out. It's unnerving, I've lived in Hawthorn away from my parents for 3 years now. I can't wait to come back to the area with Wench and Bustier Wench, it'll be the most awesome household ever. That said, 5 weeks with my parents is going to be um, interesting to say the least.
2- Finding a new job. I'm looking for more work, although if I get another part-time/casual job, I plan on staying at officeworks as well, to generate a bit more income. I'm sortakinda in debt right now, and that debt is only going to increase, I'm afraid.
3- Deciding what the fuck I want to do with my life. I honestly have no idea. It's sorta getting me down at the moment
4- Getting into Honours at Uni. I did a Game Design course at Swinburne Uni, and now I want to take that further. I'm just hoping I get accepted.

10. Parents
They can be harsh and unreasonable at times, but I still love 'em. My mum was both my best friend and worst enemy while I grew up- on one hand, we used to play video games together (which I wish more parents would do, god damnit), and on the other hand she forced me to practise my instruments. Then, when I hit TAFE and didn't want to pursue music as a career, she cancelled all my instrument lessons against my will. My dad's a hard worker who has very little tolerance for laziness (lol, and yet look at me, ahah). He loves his booze a bit too much for comfort, but he has little hobbies aside from cleaning, driving and brewing beer. I'm not as close to my dad as I am to my mum, but my dad is a lot more reasonable and rational.

11. Who are some of your closest friends?
I have a bunch of people who I consider close, but I'd probably say that Ruku, Kirstwench, Ghaz, and Tristan (even if I rarely talk to him these days) are my closest friends, and I'd be a blubbering mess without them.

Waaah, that was fun. Now to go have a shower and then do todays' cleaning/packing. :D I have work at 3pm today (swapped shifts with one of the other dudes there) I'm totally not going to play Assassin's Creed until I've been productive, god damnit!
